Now Accepting Grant Applications: The John T. Gorman Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2020 Direct Services Grant Program (DSGP). These grants of up to $25,000 go to non-profit organizations working to provide quality supports and services that address the immediate basic needs of economically disadvantaged people in Maine. Applications will be accepted through 5:00 PM on Wednesday, March 25, 2020. Go here for more information and to apply.
Two-Gen Brief Coming Soon: The Foundation will soon be releasing a policy brief on two-generation approaches to addressing poverty, which seek to help parents and their children simultaneously. The brief will put forward policy recommendations based on what Maine’s two-generation practitioners have learned about helping whole families succeed. We believe two-generation practices—which have had positive results in Maine and across the country—have much to teach us about helping parents be successful in education and employment, supporting the healthy development of children, and placing families at the center of public decision-making. Stay tuned.
