Amid new pots of federal COVID relief money, education scholars at Brookings urge officials to consider investing in wraparound services. These comprehensive models not only support academic success but take a “whole child” approach to coordinating services and supports to meet child and family needs that shape children’s ability to learn. The authors focus specifically on the evidence-based City Connects program used by several Massachusetts districts, which not only has strong positive effects for low-income, Black, Latinx, and immigrant students, but also provides a $3 return on every dollar invested. This type of programming that yields substantial gains for modest investments is especially meaningful as children and families rebuild after the pandemic. #racialequity #education
