James Martin

Jim provides clinical and programmatic leadership to one of Maine’s most comprehensive and largest behavioral health care organizations for children, adults and families. Jim is responsible for oversight of services that address emotional disturbances, mental illnesses, behavioral disorders, and learning disabilities. In addition, Jim helps manage a network of educational programs, preventive services, community-support services, residential homes and outpatient services in more than 75 communities throughout Maine.

Previous to Sweetser, Jim served as the Director of the Office of Child and Family Services at the Maine DHHS where he was responsible for ensuring the safety, permanency and well-being of children and families through the administration of child welfare services, children’s behavioral health services and a broad spectrum of early intervention and prevention services. He also served as Director of the Office of Aging and Disability Services at the Maine DHHS, a child protective caseworker and service provider for children and adults with disabilities. James holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern Maine and a Master’s of Social Work from the University of New England.

Since completing the Fellowship, James has become CEO of Community Concepts.
