New Hampshire launches online protective order filing system

New Hampshire launched a new electronic submission system that allows those experiencing domestic violence and/or stalking to file for a restraining order online, along with in-person options. Court officials have documented 20 to 30 percent declines in the number of petitions filed in March and April compared with last year and worked with legal and domestic violence advocates in the state to develop the online filing option. While developed in response to pandemic-related barriers to in-person filings, the state will consider keeping the system in place permanently after tracking initial metrics and user feedback. #covid-19
