Health Affairs article finds disparities in COVID-19 health outcomes in California

New research published in the journal Health Affairs finds disparities in COVID19 cases in the Sutter Health heath care delivery system in northern California. Using patient health data, disproportionate rates of hospitalization were found for non-white racial and ethnic groups as well as socioeconomically disadvantaged groups. For example, African Americans were 2.7 times more likely to be admitted to the hospital than non-Hispanic whites. Patients who resided in ZIP codes in the two highest quartiles of incomes were less likely to be hospitalized than those from the bottom-quartile ZIP codes. #covid-19
