July 12, 2010 At the Board of Directors’ meeting, the Board awarded 15 nonprofit organizations grants, some of which were multi-year grants, to be used for mental health services. $828,929.53 of these grant awards are to be paid in 2010. This completed JTG’s grantmaking for 2010. Please check the website often for new announcements regarding JTG’s 2011 grantmaking.
Additionally, the Board of Directors welcomed its newest Director, Richard W. Petersen, President and CEO of Maine Medical Center.
April 9, 2010 The period to submit Preliminary
Proposals closed in the strategic concentration of providing services
that benefit the mentally ill. The JTG Foundation Board received 26
Preliminary Proposals requesting $1,568,000 from the approximately $700,000 remaining to be distributed by the Board in 2010.
The Board is in a review period now and will respond
in writing to each non-profit that submitted a Preliminary Proposal no
later than Friday, May 21, 2010. Please check back after that date
for more specific information on the direction of JTG's future
grantmaking.
January 5, 2010 At its January 5, 2010, meeting, the JTG Foundation Board of Directors adopted an interim, two-part grant making process starting with inviting Maine non-profits that serve the mentally ill to submit Preliminary Proposals. After reviewing Preliminary Proposals from these Maine non-profits, the Board of Directors will issue a limited number of invitations for full grant applications. We have restricted access to this interim process to Maine’s non-profits that serve those with mental illness due to the especially challenging times for these organizations. For more detailed information about the requirements of this interim process, including the deadline for submitting a Preliminary Proposal, please see the "What We Do" page.
We are not able to accept uninvited applications at this time.
May 26, 2009 At its May 26, 2009, meeting, the JTG Foundation Board of Directors decided to decline additional applications for 2009 and 2010 grants, while the Board develops a more strategic and cost effective approach to its grant making. During the development process, the Foundation will continue to provide support to Maine's children, disadvantaged families, the elderly, and those suffering from mental illness and cancer. The amount of the Foundation's 2009 grants will be at least equal to 2008, and the Foundation does not expect to reduce 2010 grants.
